DIY A Candle for all Seasons!

Here is a simple project to make your own all season candle!
First thing I need to explain how I am doing this and you can change this to your own liking. I have certain candles that I absolutely adore for each season. These four candles that I have chosen are some that I have used for a while and have quite a few of! Since I do not have much left I will only be making a small candle.

You will need.
- Wick
- Left over candles
- An empty candle jar or any glass container you want the new candle to be in.
- Pot and water (stove) or a pot and kettle.
- Spoon
- Pen

Steps:
- The first thing you need to do is clean the new container.
- Depending on when you are doing this project will mean your candle order will be different.
- I am doing this in the fall so my order from bottom to top would be Summer, Spring, Winter, Fall.
- Next you need to get your pot and boil water, Or if you are not using the stove boil water in your kettle.
- Once boiled place the old candle in the water so the water is just above where the wax at the bottom of the jar ends.
- Stir the  wax until melted
- once melted completely you need to place the base of the wick at the bottom of your new jar
- Pour a tiny bit of wax into the new jar carefully over the base without getting any on the wick itself.
- Once the wick is stable take the pen and wrap the wick around it so it is secure and rest the pen across the mouth of the new jar so the wick does not fall in while you pour the rest of the wax.
- Once ready begin to pour the first layer of candle wax into the new jar.
- Let it sit and harder.
- Now you do the same process and melt the candle meant for the second season. and pour on top of the previous layer.
- Repeat for all of the candles.

This is simple but it is most effective if there is the same or close to the same amount of wax for each layer.

*Since it is not the best looking candle I also recommend putting it inside of another candle holder.*

And that's it! Your very own candle for every season! Have fun DIYing!

Back to School Series # 3: University Living Essentials

Hello Lovlies!

In this edition I will be covering the different necessities you will need in different types of living situations when or if you decide to move closer to your university.

The first is for a dorm room on campus (Single room -shared bathroom with neighbor-)
- MATTRESS PAD! (Do you want to sleep on someone old mattress? and it will be much more comfortable with one)
- Duvet and pillows
- Desk Supplies (You will have a desk, so bring all the supplies you will need)
- Mini-fridge and Microwave (Find out ahead of time if these are allowed in your room)
- Snacks (If you do not have time to do and get a meal, having easy to make food that can be prepared in your microwave will be very helpful, especially for late night study sessions when the cafeteria is closed.)
- Plastic drawers (You know what I am talking about right?)
- Hangers (Yes I know its obvious but all this organization stuff is very important)
- Cleaning Supplies (Yes it is very important! Clean before you set your room up! and of course keep it clean, but you will also need to make sure the place is spotless before you move out or there is a chance that you will be charged.)
- Laundry Supplies
- Cork Board and Big wall calender (ones you can write on and erase -dry erase-)
- Lights (Find out if your room comes with a side table lamp or a desk lamp)
- TV/DVD player (If you are not one that will be going home every weekend there is times that you will not have anything to do. Yes most of the time you will be busy and this could be a bad thing, especially if you have no self control but having a TV could stop your bordem if you ever find a moment that you are not swamped with school work. Yes there is usually a common room with a TV by try finding it free where you can watch whatever you want to watch...)
- iPod dock or clock radio (These items could do the same thing, I even  recommend loading your iPod with none lyrical music that will keep you awake and calm to help you focus on your work.)
- All your personal effects is obvious as well but I will include it.
- This includes
            - Toiletries
            - Clothes
            - Jewlery
            - Make up
            - Pictures or memorabilia from home (Such as stuffed animals)

This next list is if you are living in a house, on or off campus.
- First off I recommend that you include everything in my previous list in this list as well!
- Snacks
- Plastic drawers
- Cleaning Supplies
- Laundry supplies
- Lights
- Cork Board and Big wall calender (ones you can write on and erase -dry erase-)
- TV/DVD player
- iPod dock or clock radio
- All your personal effects is obvious as well but I will include it.
- This includes
            - Toiletries
            - Clothes
            - Jewlery
            - Make up
            - Pictures or memorabilia from home (Such as stuffed animals)
Also you should have
- Money
- Shelves (If you are moving into a place off campus)
- Desk (If you are moving somewhere off campus)
- Food (Split with roommates if you have)
- Kitchen stuff (Do not bring good stuff, it will get damaged -Split with roommates if you have them-)
- Shower Caddy (This is if you are sharing a place with more then one other person, people will steal from you)
- Plenty more that will be essential for you but not for others
- DO NOT OVER PACK!!! (Chances are these places are small and bringing your entire childhood with you from home is not going to turn out well!)

This are some of the basic necessities I would recommend that you bring with you when moving closer to school and away from the parents!

Never Back Down
Never Give Up!

Back to School Series #2: University Essentials

Hey again! This is the second installment in the Back to School Series. This time, as you saw in the title I will be focusing on University essentials. This has nothing to do with dorm room essentials I will cover that in another post. This is going to be general essentials, I will post a few supplies that may be needed for certain degrees but you will have to wait to receive a syllabus from your professor for further instructions.

A general list of supplies will be helpful, and you may be surprised with some of the things you find.

- AGENDA! **(You thought I put emphasis on this in my high school list its a lot different now. No matter what program you are in, or what you are doing an agenda should be the one thing that never leaves your side. You should keep this in your bag so that you have it when ever you need to write something down. I know I said it will be a savior before but its a lot different now, without it you will forget things. You will have multiple readings for every class, no matter what program.)**
- Pens, Notebook/Free Paper, Binder/if using paper (This is all depending on what you decide to use but I would recommend having loose paper for anytime you need to hand a question or small participation in lecture. Also loose leaf paper/notebook is helpful in tutorials and practical seminars.)
- Pencils (Again, similar to the high school list, this is mainly for scantron)
- Highlighters (I found these much more helpful in university then I did in high school. Since you buy your textbooks -even if you rent them- the book store usually does not care if the book is highlighted -they only care about water damage so do not drop your textbook in the bathtub or toilet!- So highlighters will be very important for textbook readings and note taking)
- Post-its (Yes post its! Buy them! You will need them, similar to highlighters you will need them for textbook reading and note taking)
- A laptop (This depends on how fast you can type, or now well you can write short hand but if you feel comfortable then I recommend typing your notes, it is much neater and more organized.)
- Printer (I personally recommend a small HP inkjet printer that takes the big cartridge. Yes the ink is rather expensive but it lasts on average 5000 prints which is amazing! The cartridge is around $90 and the printer is about $100 but it is so worth it since one cartridge will last you more then one year. The only con is it is not a colour printer but with school you will rarely if you ever need need to print in colour.)
- USB/Hardrive/Disks (If you are typing your notes, and even if you are only planing on typing assignments, having one or all of these devises will be a great help in making sure you do not lose your 15 page essay when while you are finishing up on your 14th page. BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP, I can not stress this enough. You need to constantly save your work and back it up. Professors do not care if your laptop stopped working, you should have backed it up! Even if you do not want to invest in any of these I would recommend that you email to yourself or use google drive, or cloud, anything that you are able to access your work from another computer.)
- iClicker (Your professor will let you know if the class is required to buy an iClicker, and if you do they will be available in your school bookstore)

For other programs some things you may need are
- Lab coat and goggles (The Sciences)
- Calculator (Science and Math)
- Art Supplies (If an art student)

Small Book Haul [4]

Not as big of a haul as the others but still amazing deals!

Chain Reaction by: Simone Elkeles (Perfect Chemestry #3)
Endure by: Carrie Jones (Need #4)

Both books would normally cost about $17.99 each! With tax about $40.67!
and all i paid for both books, hardback and in amazing condition was $3.39!
That's a savings of $37.28!

Most Anticipated 2013 Releases

These are my top 5 most anticipated books of 2013! It was rather difficult to only include 5 but i managed! They are listed in order of their release date.

The Chaos of Stars by by Kiersten White Sept 12
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater (Raven Boys #2 )Sept 17
Allegiant by Veronica Roth (Divergent #3) Oct 22
Champion by Marie Lu (Legend Trilogy #3) November 5th
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner Dec 10

I find it necessary to point out that I'm a little ahead of myself about Champion and Allegiant! I have not read the first two books in either series because I heard so many amazing things and I do not want to have to wait for the final book in the series so when these come out I can FINALLY read these!!

Book Tag # 2: Inside & Out

Inside & Out TAG

I Inside flap/Back of the book summaries: Too much info? Or not enough (Discuss)

  • I honestly don't even read those anymore, i find books on blogs, goodreads, and youtube, if i find it interesting then i'll buy it, if i'm in a store shopping and come across a book i will read the blurb but it is always different, sometimes it barely says anything, if it doesn't give me enough to be interested then i put the book down and move on.
N New book: What form do you want it in? Be honest: Audiobook, E-Book, Paperback, or Hardcover?
  • I love books! paper back or hard cover i just love to have them physically on my shelf. But i do have an e-reader and I love it! People get upset about e-readers, but its so easy when traveling. and you can carry hundreds of books and it weighs just about nothing!
S Scribble while you read? Do you like to write in your books, taking notes, making comments, or do you keep your books clean clean clean? (Tell us why)
  • No no no no no! No writing in books! I am so against it! It should be illegal. Sadly as much as i hate doing it, it is necessary when it comes to my textbooks.
I It's your favorite, What is your favorite quote from a book.
  •  "In dreams we enter a world that is entirely our own"
D Does it matter to you whether the author is male of female when you're deciding on a book? What if you're unsure of the author's gender?
  • Authors gender does not matter to me at all. As long as i enjoy the book itself then the author's gender is irrelevant
E Ever read ahead? or have you ever read the last page way before you got there? (Do confess thy sins, foul demon!) :)
  •  To be honest.... yes, I have and I'm not proud of it! I don't want to do it, but sometimes i get to excited, or far to worried to wait until the end of the book to find out certain things. I know its wrong and I try to do certain things to stop myself. For example if I read ahead and have to minus one book from what I am allowed to purchase that month.

&

O Organized bookshelves, or Outrageous bookshelves?
  •  My bookshelves are crazy... crazy organized that is. I will reorganize my bookshelves at least twice a month, because I will get tired of how my shelves look. I keep series together. I will post pictures of my shelves soon. But I have five shelves at the moment, one is my YA shelf and my other is for Fiction and biographies, and a very small shelf i have is my magazines, and these three are in my bedroom. I have two in my basement and these are strictly, text books, and music related books, along with some random books that I do not want on my selves.
U Under oath: have you ever bought a book based on the cover (alone)?
  •  Yes! I have bought a book based on the cover, if the cover interests me then I am sure I will love the book, and based on my thoughts of the books I have purchased based on the cover I have been correct in how much I love the books.
T Take it outside to read, or stay in?
  • This really depends on where I am. When I am at home I prefer to read in my room, if I am at the cottage then I love reading on the porch, but also in my room, where its quiet with no distractions. While on vacation I of course love to read outside!
